One of the largest gatherings of business leaders in Greater Akron, the GAC Annual Meeting represents an evening of celebration, connection and recognition as the Chamber reflects on its accomplishments and shares its priorities for the year ahead. This event kicks off with a networking reception, followed by the presentation of the H. Peter Burg Economic Development Leadership Award to Richard J. Kramer, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer for The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, and a panel conversation. In 2024, we will return to a plated dinner as part of the format.

The panel discussion will focus on The Polymer Industry Cluster: Building on our Past – Driving Global Innovation for our Future. Our region is at the cusp of a transformational time in its history. As we leverage our deep roots in rubber and advanced materials and establish our place as a global leader in sustainable polymer technology, Greater Akron has the unique opportunity to mirror the “boom” it saw in the early 20th century. The recent federal designation of Greater Akron as a Sustainable Polymers Tech Hub reinforces our long-standing commitment to better understand and advance sustainable material science. The work currently underway will carve out a path of growth and opportunity decades into the future. Success can mean job creation, increased income, investments in infrastructure, and an improved quality of life for the region. Our panel will outline the significance of the recent wins Greater Akron has had in the polymer field, and the possibilities they create for the economic landscape of our region.
